Rangers captain Barry Ferguson is to visit a specialist due to an ongoing ankle injury.

Ferguson will meet the specialist on Tuesday to discuss the problem, which has been affecting the midfielder in recent weeks.

As a result, the Scotland international will miss Rangers’ Scottish Cup quarter-final tie with Partick Thistle on Wednesday night.

However, the CIS Insurance Cup winners are confident he will be fit to return against Hibernian in the SPL at the weekend.

The 30-year-old has made 50 appearances for club and country this season as he leads Rangers’ attempt to win four trophies.
